  • Read the detailed tutorials. It's the number one reason why people get confused, not actually going through the longer tutorial entries.
  • Needs are a lot less binary compared to the original, if you run out of food then hunger will slowly grow instead of slamming right into starvation mode. A mild deficit of a material is not a serious issue.
  • Adjacency bonuses are king. You need three overlapping slots to activate a bonus, which means that one cell of a district touching three of the other will only impart adjacency on the former. Also, adjacency applies so long as the district is turned on, so dropping the efficiency slider to a minimum on a district that is almost out of resources will allow for the bonus to last longer.

  • Hubs, especially maintenance hubs, are critical to maintaining your supplies. It's easy to negate the production of a district if you let upkeep get away from you.
  • Check in on the political groups when you aren't rushing a goal down, giving them the agenda for the next vote can be free approval especially if it doesn't pass. Their detailed view in the council will show you what they want to pass. Also, if you want to pass or research something that a group wants then check to see if it's one of their desired promises.
