General

  • There are no time deadlines, except for timed quests, which will show up again. You can always do something next year.
  • The very first thing you should do is find your crafting menu and figure out what you need to make a chest.
  • At 2am, no matter where you are, you'll fall asleep and wake up at 6am in your bed. If you're not in your house when you fall asleep, you'll be charged a fee.
  • The game saves every night. You can reset a day by restarting the game, but you cannot save in the middle of a day.
  • The TV channels can give you very useful information.
  • Use your hoe on those little wiggly worm spots on the ground.
  • Check out both sides of the bulletin board outside the seed shop.
  • Skills can be specialized at levels 5 and 10. Your level 10 choices depend on your level 5 choice. After accessing a certain area, you can change these specialties for a small fee.
  • Available fish change depending on season, weather, location, and time. Crab pots give different fish than a fishing rod.

Friendship

  • Make friends. They'll send you useful stuff and recipes.
  • Different people like different gifts. Flowers (except dandelions) and cooked items (except bread) are almost universally liked.
  • Giving a gift on a person's birthday gives a huge friendship boost.
  • Simply going to a festival improves your friendship with everyone in town.
  • You don't have to show up to a festival as soon as it starts, but you only have a few hours' leeway.

Crops

  • With very few exceptions, your crops must be watered to grow. Take advantage of rainy days.
  • Upgraded hoes and watering cans can be charged up to affect a wider area by holding down the button.
  • Upgrade your watering can the day before the TV says it will rain. Water, turn it in for upgrading; the rain handles one day; pick it up, and water.
  • Seasons are 28 days. On the 1st of the next season, almost all crops will wither and die. Pay attention to how long a crop takes to grow.
  • Some crops are one-time harvest, and some can be harvested until they die.
  • Fruit trees take a full season (28 days) to grow, and only produce fruit in their assigned season. They will hold up to 3 fruits at a time.

Community centre

  • The alternative to the community center just involves buying the upgrades with cash. There are very few changes to the game otherwise.
  • Once you get access to the community center, look up bundle requirements and start storing them.
  • Completion of whole rooms is very valuable.

Days of the week

  • The seed store is closed on Wednesdays. You can also buy them at the big store, but they're more expensive.
  • Check out the traveling merchant in the forest on Friday and Sunday.
  • You can get a free recipe on the TV every Sunday.

Permanence

  • You can place objects (chests, lights, etc.) in areas other than your farm.
  • You can place most objects inside your house.
  • You can move everything that's in your house, including the windows, fireplace, and bed.
  • You're not stuck with your appearance. After accessing a certain area, you can change it for a small fee.
  • The carpenter can move almost every building on your farm, including your house and the shipping bin.

Cash money

  • Sell most items by throwing them in the shipping bin next to your house. You can also sell specific items to associated merchants. There is no price difference.
  • Having matured flowers nearby makes honey more valuable.
  • Processing things before you sell them almost always makes them more valuable.
  • If you can afford it, buy the Rare Seed. It's worth it.
  • Open geodes, don't sell them.
