• You need to make your character BEFORE your start RTTS, you don't do it as part of the process anymore. It's the My Player tab in your profile.

• You don't pick your player position as part of the character creation, and yes it's going to show you as a Starting Pitcher (and possibly an infield position as well). It's because it wants to shoehorn you into their new two-way player system where you're both a Pitcher and a regular fielder. If you don't want to do that, don't freak out. Near the start of RTTS you do have to make a single start as a pitcher, but after that it gives you the option of swapping to exclusively a fielder (which is where you pick your position) or exclusively a pitcher if you don't want to be a two way player.
