• Pets are extremely powerful and worth investing in because they persist between runs. They're easy to ignore/neglect but doing so would be a big mistake.

• Budoka might be the easiest job to start out with because it's very straightforward and hits like a truck bare-handed.

• As you get to later floors, always keep a couple of different elemental weapons on hand for when you run up against resistant/immune enemies, and even melee jobs benefit from keeping a decent ranged weapon.

• The town portal takes 12 turns to go off. If you think you might be in trouble, fire it off sooner rather than later.
