Digimon Story: Time Stranger

• Your choice of starter is literally not important. You can get all three within a few hours of starting the game. That being said, Patamon takes a little longer to get than the other two.

• Any Digimon can become almost any other Digimon by evolving up and down their evolutionary trees.

• Do every sidequest as soon as it becomes available. Evolution tiers are locked by your Agent rank and most sidequests give you the AP you'll need to raise your Agent rank.

• And on that note, there are four skills on each Agent skill tree that look like a set of stairs with two arrows point in different direction. You'll want to beeline these skills; they make evolving your 'mons way easier.

• Try to have a balanced party. You'll want at least one Vaccine Digimon, one Data, and one Virus. But that being said, if you're having trouble with a boss fight or getting through specific areas, don't be afraid to devolve and evolve your party into different Digimon to get through it. The game wants and expects you to be shifting up and down different evolutionary routes.

• There's a shop early on where you can buy BBQ Skewers and Fruit Tarts. Buy four Skewers and three Tarts and hang onto them; you'll need them later for an optional thing but when it becomes available, you're cut off from that shop and won't have access to it again until much later.
