  • The game encourages you to take lots of notes and screenshot anything you find interesting or notable for future reference, and you should do that
  • There's an obvious goal that the game presents you at the start, but you'll have a much better time wandering and exploring as much as possible instead of putting blinders on and forcing yourself to beeline that or any future singular specific goals at a time. the main reason people bounce off of the game is that they consider One Thing as actual progress and ignore the game trying to throw at them any of the several dozen other ways to get deeper into itself
  • As you progress there will be additional, permanent ways to make your way through the mansion easier through things like rerolls and ways to give you more options and tools at the start of a run; like I said before this is also a big reason to not tunnel vision a specific goal until later in the game. any new room or information should be considered progress
