Abiotic Factor

From Before I Play

  • None of the starting options are bad, but by and large you can train up skills during the game and you can't get traits. Consider starting as the Intern or something for the extra trait points.
  • As with many other survival crafting games, carry weight and inventory are the limiting factors for at least the first several dozen hours. It's expensive, but the fanny pack trait is actually incredibly useful.
  • You increase your strength and therefore you carrying capacity by walking around with a full inventory. Note that a completely maxed-out weight limit will not train your strength. It needs to be a little below.
  • The area you start in is as safe as you'll get for a while, there's no harm in setting up shop there.
  • Get yourself (or someone on your server) up to Crafting Level 3 ASAP. Use 2 raw exor hearts, gotten from butchering the bipedal aliens, to upgrade your crafting bench and you'll be able to craft from nearby inventories. The range is generous and it's the best QOL upgrade in the game, IMO.
  • From my experience, yellow and orange injuries will heal themselves but red will not. For example, sprains and fractures from falling will heal over time, but breaks will not.
