Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Make sure you use Maelle for the Gestral Arena main quest section as you'll get one of her best weapons and if you don't use her you'll have to wait until endgame to get it.
- The game will force you to use certain characters at sections so don't leave anyone unskilled/unleveled.
- Parrying is important, especially for higher difficulties. Some attacks are better to dodge, and ultimately both keep you alive the same. However, the AP and damage from getting off perfect counters is nothing to scoff at. It may be easier to dodge initially (a much more forgiving window) to learn the timings, and then start to committing to the parry for maximum benefit.
- Besides giving the mentioned traits, the stats bonuses for Lumina and Pictos are worth it. Don’t abandon your colours of Lumina, and make sure that you actually slot your best Pictos and Luminas. It’s truly game changing, and you should be prepared to modify your loadout per boss if need be.
- Pictos have inherent stats boosts that are listed alongside the main effect, and they also provide their ability for "free" while they are equipped. Therefore it can be a good idea to slot in some high buff or point-expensive pictos and save the cheaper ones for buying in the passives menu.
- If you can't access an area or interact with a strange terrain piece easily then you will likely get a power that covers it later.
- Combat items are per-rest, so use them freely in fights, especially for bosses.
- Experiment with shooting enemies anywhere that looks different. Some have weak points at strange angles, such as a sword user showing a weak point on their inner elbow that is covered from the front. You may need to use a party member with a cleaner shot to trigger them, and some take several shots.
- When exploring an area, light will generally lead you towards your destination. If you come to a fork and one of the paths is darker than the other, you'll want to go that way first to look for optional items and fights.
- When you get to the boss that is protective of flowers, you have to parry or dodge his 3 jump combo; jumping does not avoid the attack, contrary to what you'd think.
- Sound is very useful for figuring out parry/dodge timing. Almost all attacks have a unique audio cue right before impact that tells you when to hit the parry/dodge.
