* There is no downside to picking the weapon with the highest attack power in whatever category of weapon you prefer (Swords is only category of weapon in the first half of the game). Weight seems to have very little effect.
* The late-game sidequest Life in the Sands involves gardening, which is based on real time and will take several real-life days to complete (or require you to manipulate the system clock). You can start the required gardening much earlier than the quest becomes available, and getting started as soon as you can will save you some waiting time down the line. There's no noteworthy reward for doing the quest, so feel free to skip it, but if you want 100% on sidequests, look at a guide for the details.
* The Junk Heap area is a major source for weapon upgrade components, but don't go out of your way to farm them. The game makes you go through there a lot of times as it is, and upgrading isn't really necessary.
