- If you're using a Maiming weapon, you can massacre regular zombies (walkers/runners) by aiming for the legs.
- If your weapon has an elemental mod some zombie subtypes will be completely immune to it. Make sure to have a backup. A purely physical one is good to have on-hand for firefighters.
- Top up your Fuse supply every time you visit a vendor. Spend one when you're feeling like you need a new weapon.
- Lockboxes usually can't be opened when you first find them. They're for when you return to areas.
- Don't underestimate the humble Meat Bait and Chem Bomb. They might not do any damage, but that doesn't mean you can't massacre zombies with them.
- Don't put weapons in storage! By the time you find yourself back at another dropoff/pickup point to pull a stored weapon, you've probably leveled up to the point where said weapon is no longer viable compared to the stuff you'd just find lying around. You do have the option to pay to pull a weapon up to your current level but it's extremely cost-prohibitive to do so and again, replacements are just lying around.
- It's not a terrible idea to hang on to one very powerful weapon in case you run into a boss, but it isn't a gamebreaker.
- Find a melee weapon swing style you vibe with and try to stick with it. It can be disorienting to go from brass knuckles & knives (fast swing, low damage, little knockback) to sledgehammers & bats (long windup, big damage, bigger knockback) and against some enemies if you're expecting one and deliver the other it can be curtains for you.
- The penalty for dying is that you start back at the last auto-saved point with all your consumables as they were at the point you died; if you think you've found yourself in an unwinnable scenario, don't burn through all your health packs trying to salvage it! You'll respawn just in front of this unwinnable scenario with 0 health packs. Just take your death gracefully and try to come up with a plan, or a route where you can run past the enemy into a more favorable battle spot.
