- The most build-defining thing in the game is your character's class, which determines their perk list. Taking a good look at that should give you an idea of what to look for in other systems.
- Picking the most impactful perks first is by far the fastest way of gaining power early on. In the very early game when it's still about individual creatures, here's a couple of favorites I tend to use:
- Unicorn Vivifier has Reinvigoration, which resurrects your dead creatures with 50% health when it attacks. Better than any other early heal, and doesn't use up turns.
- Coldslam Yeti has Ice Nova, which afflicts enemies with Frozen when it provokes. This can disable entire enemy teams in a couple of turns.
- Ebony Ent has Nature's Blessing, which gives everyone Mending and some damage protection. Again, better than messing around with low level healing spells.
- Terror Hound has Nature of the Beast, which gives everyone 3 Dire Wolves. Tapers off as the game advances unless you have minion synergies, but early on the Hound is one of the strongest offensive creatures.
